PokéDraft

PokéDraft is a free, browser-based Pokémon draft simulator designed for two players who want to compete with fully custom, balanced teams.

How it works

The game is split into two phases. In the Draft phase, players take turns (snake order) picking Pokémon from a pool of randomly selected candidates — one at a time, until each player has filled their team. The final picks are reserved for legendary slots, letting you complete your roster with a strategic "finisher". In the Build phase, each Pokémon is then customized step by step: you choose from 3 randomly offered options for each slot, with a live preview panel showing your build coming together as you make decisions.

Build options per Pokémon

  • Ability — from the Pokémon's actual learnset, including Hidden Abilities
  • 4 Moves — drawn from the competitive pool (Smogon-curated) or the full learnset, with physical/special/status category badges
  • Nature — with stat modifiers shown, and live stat preview on hover
  • EV Spread — real competitive spreads from Smogon sets, with live stat preview on hover
  • Held Item — from items actually used in competitive play

Game modes & settings

  • Local play — two players on the same device, turns alternate automatically
  • Online play — peer-to-peer connection via a room code, no server or account needed
  • Team size — choose 1 to 6 Pokémon per team
  • Draft & Build timers — configurable per-pick time limits (default 30s / 20s); auto-pick triggers when time runs out
  • Max Generation filter — restrict the pool to Pokémon from Gen 1 up to Gen 9
  • Fully Evolved only — exclude unevolved Pokémon from the draft pool (on by default)
  • Legendaries per team — set the exact number of legendary/mythical/paradox Pokémon each player will draft (from 0 to team size, or Free for no constraint). The chosen number of slots is automatically reserved as the final picks of the draft, with a clear visual indicator
  • Team BST balance — soft constraint that steers each team toward a target average BST (~450 to ~580, default ~520, excluding legendaries) so neither player ends up with a stat-stacked team; the average updates live during the draft, with two readouts in each team bar: a prominent full-team BST and a smaller non-legendary BST shown against the target
  • Competitive Pool (Smogon) — in non-chaos mode, restricts moves/items/natures/EVs to options actually used in competitive sets, fetched live from pkmn.cc — three random options are still presented per choice, so each player can build differently with the same Pokémon
  • Chaos Mode — abilities, moves and items are pulled fully at random instead of from the Pokémon's learnset / competitive pool
  • Show/Hide opponent's team — optionally reveal the enemy build only after both players are done
  • Language — Italian / English toggle for the full UI, fully translated including the lobby, draft and build screens

Live build preview

While building each Pokémon, a panel shows everything you've picked so far — ability, item, nature (with +/- stat indicators), EV spread, and your 4 moves (with type and physical/special/status category badges). Effective stats are recalculated live at level 100 with chosen EVs and nature applied. Hover over a nature or EV choice to see exactly how the stats would change — diff badges in green/red show the boosted and reduced values before you commit.

Draft phase feedback

The team bars during the draft show each player's current composition with two live BST averages: the full team total in gold, and the non-legendary average in green (when within the balance target) or grey. Empty legendary slots display a star icon so you always know how the rest of the draft will unfold, and a "★ Legendary slot" badge appears on the pick counter during legendary picks.

Export

At the end of the game, each player can download their team in Pokémon Showdown format (English names, proper nature/ability/move/item names), ready to paste and play instantly.
